The Prophetic Rise of
Black Womanhood
When we think about the complicated history of Womanhood, and more specifically Black Womanhood, it can be marked at the beginning with our foremother Chuah (Eve) in the Garden of Eden. Although not directly given the command by God to refrain from eating of the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil, she was aware of the principle, and fell under the beguilement of the serpent with a lust for power. Not only did she corrupt herself, but then she corrupted her counterpart as well, leading to their instant recognition of evil, removal from God’s presence, and the punishment we are reminded of monthly – periods.
If all that wasn’t enough, she was also plagued with the curse of subordination, leading to a global patriarchal system that rarely honored and valued its women. As time went on, society placed strongholds and strict boundaries on women, their potential, and their freedoms. While Ancient Ivriyahs (Hebrew women) experienced better treatment than most, we still see the curse of subordination throughout history. But all that is set to change.

Shedera, affectionately known as “Dera,” is a natural connector whose life’s work revolves around the expansion of Black womanhood and community. With an eye for collaboration and a heart for sisterhood, she founded Dera’s Social House — a space designed to connect Black women entrepreneurs with the tools, solutions, and networks they need to thrive.
Her vision goes beyond business; it’s about cultivating safe spaces where Black women can share resources, strategize, and build lasting legacies together. Through Dera’s Social House, she is creating a movement of empowerment, reminding us that when one of us grows, we all grow.
