A Still Moment

Tamera’s writing space is a cozy spare bedroom filled with warmth and comfort. A plush couch layered with colorful pillows and a soft throw blanket, surrounded by calming browns, teals, and neutral tones. The walls are decorated with canvas art featuring encouraging words, along with photos of family members and close friends who inspire her.

“I write gentle, heart-centered stories that wrap children in comfort, courage, and hope.”

Early Impressions

Tamera’s mother had a huge influence on her personality. Growing up watching how strong she had been over the years as a single mother raising three girls. She found herself always writing poems and journaling to express herself, in which her mother inspired. Her childhood experiences, whether joyful or traumatic, shaped the way she communicated with others. In most cases, it caused her to internalize a lot of her feelings.

The Making of a Writer

During one of the darkest periods of her life, she found it hard to express her feelings or connect with others. Tamera returned to journaling for the first time since high school and began therapy, which helped her to start healing. She shared her dream of becoming a writer with her daughter, and her encouragement gave Tamera the confidence to finally go for it. Wanting to create something joyful, she enrolled in a few writing courses at a conference and truly loved the experience.

The biggest rejection she faced wasn’t from others — it was from herself. Fear and self-doubt were her greatest roadblocks, but learning to believe in herself became the most important part of the journey.

A pivotal moment for her was the illustrations bringing her story to life.

Craft & Voice

Tamera is at the beginning of her journey with one current release. In her story, she drew from her own childhood experience of being a new kid in new environments struggling to make new friends and learning to fit in which helped shape her as an adult.

Writing Ritual & Process

One of her writing habits is traditionally bringing out a notebook, pen, and white noise in the background. When she encounters a block, she takes a break from her current space and doesn’t force herself or the work.

Breakthrough & Impact of Your Work

Tommy brings hope into the community for children by encouraging them to not give up when placed in a new environment with new challenges. It touches her heart when parents reach out, letting her know how much their child enjoyed Tommy and how excited they are for the next adventure.

The Author You Are Today

As a new author, Tamera continues to work on her craft. She journals about her experiences and learns from other seasoned writers. She finds balance by always finding time for family while carving out time to write and be a good example for her tribe.

What's Next

On March 28th, 2026, she will be participating in the Links Foundation wellness expo in Tulsa, OK which includes community engagement, education, and awareness. As she’s grown more confident in herself, her writing voice has grown stronger and more authentic. That confidence allows her to tell stories with greater warmth, clarity, and emotional honesty.
