Charlotte, NC — Something historic is happening in the Queen City this January: the first-ever Charlotte Black Women’s Business Directory is officially going to print. In a year where Black women faced the highest unemployment and underemployment rates nationwide, SISTAH Magazine is stepping in with a solution rooted in visibility, economic power, and community.

Why it matters:

Black women are the backbone of Charlotte’s entrepreneurial landscape — yet they’re often the least funded, least supported, and least visible.

  • 2025 saw a disproportionate drop in jobs held by Black women across multiple industries.

  • Small businesses remain the primary source of economic advancement for Black households.

  • Visibility = survival. Without consistent exposure, Black-owned businesses are overlooked by the very communities they serve.

This directory is the first print publication of its kind in Charlotte dedicated solely to uplifting Black women founders, creatives, practitioners, and professionals — and placing them directly in front of thousands of local consumers.

What’s happening:

SISTAH Magazine is releasing its inaugural 2026 Charlotte Black Women’s Business Directory in early January.

  • Distributed in 100+ hotspot locations across the city — from cafés and salons to cultural institutions and boutiques.

  • Featuring over 500 businesses across industries including beauty, wellness, finance, real estate, consulting, home care, apparel, and more.

  • Highlighting founder stories, must-know businesses, rising influencers, healers, and creatives shaping Charlotte’s culture.

  • Listings start at $49.99 — less than 50 cents per location for a full-year visibility footprint.

Zoom out:

Charlotte is one of the fastest-growing Black entrepreneurial hubs in America. With increased migration, rising start-up activity, and a booming local ecosystem, Black women are creating the heartbeat of the city’s culture and development.

This directory meets the moment — giving those businesses a permanent, physical presence in the community.

How to get involved:

There are three ways to support the movement:

1. Secure your business listing

Businesses can claim a spot in the print directory for $49.99.Deadline: December 31.👉 Link in bio or visit sistahmagazine.com/directory

2. Nominate a Black woman-owned business

The bottom line:

Charlotte’s Black women are building businesses that deserve to be seen. This directory is not just a publication — it’s a record of legacy, leadership, and economic power.

Because visibility is not a luxury. It’s a lifeline.
