Houston, Texas — As conversations surrounding access, equity, and public-sector opportunity continue to evolve, the upcoming HER Gov Summit 2026 is positioning itself as more than just a networking event — but as a strategic access point for women and minority-owned businesses seeking to navigate government contracting with clarity and confidence.

Hosted by TMC Consulting Group under the leadership of founder Tamanisha Casey-Mayberry, the two-day summit will take place May 22–23 at the Thompson Hotel in Houston, Texas.
The event arrives at a pivotal moment for Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) certifications in Texas, particularly for women-owned businesses navigating changing policies and procurement systems. Organizers say the summit was intentionally designed to provide business owners with practical insight, direct agency access, and actionable strategies as the public-sector contracting landscape shifts.
Each year, federal, state, and local governments award more than $700 billion in contracts for goods and services. Yet, according to summit organizers, less than 10% of those contracts consistently go to women- and minority-owned firms.
HER Gov Summit seeks to address that disparity directly.
“Access alone isn’t enough — you have to know how to position yourself once you get in the room,” said Casey-Mayberry in the event’s official release. “As policies shift, the businesses that win will be the ones who understand how to move strategically, stay informed, and build relationships that lead to real opportunity.”
The summit’s programming is split into two distinct experiences tailored to entrepreneurs at different stages of growth.
Friday’s free public-access programming will center around a vendor and resource expo, offering attendees opportunities to connect directly with agencies and organizations including the City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity, the Small Business Administration, and other procurement-focused partners.
Saturday’s ticketed experience will shift into deeper conversations surrounding certification, compliance, procurement readiness, and long-term scaling through government partnerships.
One of the featured conversations will include Cylenthia Hoyrd from the City of Houston Office of Business Opportunity, who will provide insight into certification strategy, compliance expectations, and how MWBEs can remain competitive within a changing regulatory environment.
Beyond education, the summit reflects a broader movement among women and minority entrepreneurs demanding greater transparency and inclusion within systems that have historically been difficult to access.
Organizers describe HER Gov Summit as an “economic empowerment experience” focused not only on inspiration, but implementation — helping business owners move from curiosity to concrete opportunity.
The HER Gov Summit 2026 will take place Friday and Saturday, May 22–23, from 12 PM to 4 PM at the Thompson Hotel.
Registration information is available at HER Gov Summit.
