Silence Seasons the Soul

Group chats are demanding that you share your new home and sacred recipes to save the season. Seasonings purchased for the casserole and greens, while taking on the role of sinner and saint, cursing and silently yelling throughout the day before you bow at night to pray.
Your body hums with tired devotion, hands moving on autopilot through tradition, smiles stitched tight for family photos, though your spirit whispers, “I’m fading.”
You pour love until the cup runs dry, mistaking exhaustion for duty, burning both sage and yourself to keep the peace. But even saviors need to sleep.
So rest, sis.
Let the rice overcook, let the phone ring twice.
The world will not collapse if you choose yourself tonight.
Lay down the apron and the crown from your weary head
Let the silence season your soul instead.
