When We Remember Ourselves

We enter this world simply;
naked, unaware, and untethered to any roles, masks, or identity.
Fully downloaded for authenticity.
For truth.
For surrender to what is and what is to come.
Somewhere along the way, we begin to shift.
To forget our essence.
To accept not our assignment, but what others decide is suitable for us.
I’ve watched this happen to many of the women I hold near, and even those I only know from a distance.
And I’ve watched it in myself.
We become weighed down by unrealistic expectations.
Time and duty hold us in a chokehold so tight that we forget we belong to ourselves.
The exhaustion of fighting everyone’s battles; including our own, pulls us under.
Dethroned.
Deshuffled.
Our vision muddled by the falsehoods crafted by those who profit from our pain: our sweat equity, our passion, until there is simply nothing left.
Until we awaken.
Until we recognize the script that was handed to us and the roles we’ve unconsciously stepped into.
We hunger.
We thirst for home.
So we create versions that don’t quite fit, because we’ve forgotten that home lives within our own arms—reflected in love, reflected in the eyes that mirror our essence…
but only when we remember.
And so, the journey back home is not a grand arrival; it is a gentle return. A slow gathering of all the pieces we abandoned to survive. A quiet reclaiming of the self we left behind in the hands of others. When we remember ourselves, we remember that our power was never lost; it only waited for our permission to be seen again. We step back into our bodies, our breath, our birthright; softened, strengthened, and restored. This is the work. This is the homecoming.
Affirmation
I return to myself with tenderness.
I reclaim what I forgot was mine.
I am home within my own spirit,
and I rise remembering who I’ve always been.

This article was right on time. The overarching theme for this season of my life is purpose. So, for me this article was confirmation.
This is a beautiful reminder for women to remember who we are!
