Who I Already Am

I sit and stare

at the wall

until it fades into nothingness.

Darkness and light dance in my vision,

helping me remember;

reminding me to envision.

I reflect and recall the moments

when struggle became mastery,

when making shit shake

felt like second nature.

A badge of honor just to make it happen.

I’ve released that version of me

and laid her to rest

many times;

only to unfold into more.

It continues to take time.

And along the way,

I’m learning to enjoy the process,

to enjoy the ride.

I envision myself living,

trying,

and being more present—

in alignment with the assignment for my life.

And I exhale,

knowing I am exactly who I need to be,

remembering I already am.
